Fifth Interdisciplinary Conference
Nov 5 @ 9:00 pm – Nov 6 @ 10:00 pm

Dear Delegate,

The International Advisory Board is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Aging and Society: Fifth Interdisciplinary Conference and the Call for Submissions to The International Journal of Aging and Society. The 2015 Aging and Society Conference will be held at The Catholic University of America, Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center in Washington D.C., USA, from 5-6 November.

SPECIAL CONFERENCE FOCUS

Inter-Generational Relationships

The aging population is increasing at an unprecedented rate. In 2006 there were almost 500 million people aged 65 and older with that number projected to increase to 1 billion by 2030. By 2050 1 in 5 people will be over the age of 60 with more people 60 and over in the world population than between the ages of 0-14. With an increasing aging population it’s more important than ever for the generations to learn how to relate to each other. Different values and perceptions of the world can lead to difficulties in relationships and links that facilitate understanding across generations need to be created. The 2015 Aging and Society Conference special focus on inter-generational relationships will explore the barriers, benefits, and ways to facilitate inter-generational relationships.

CONFERENCE THEMES

Proposals for paper presentations, workshops, poster presentations, or colloquia are invited that discuss the broader themes listed below. In addition to the special focus, paper presentations will be grouped into one of the following categories for presentation at the conference:

Theme 1: Economic and Demographic Perspectives on Aging
Theme 2: Public Policy and Public Perspectives on Aging
Theme 3: Medical Perspectives on Aging, Health, Wellness
Theme 4: Social and Cultural Perspectives on Aging
Special Focus: Inter-Generational Relationships

Presenters also have the option to submit completed papers to one of fully peer-reviewed journals in The International Journal of Aging and Society.
